Storm hits in the midst of Hilton festivities

Storms literally rained on any parade that may have taken place in Hilton, NY as their annual carnival was in the middle of the traditional festivities.

A tornado was spotted, but did not make landfall in the area of the carnival. Instead, it hit Hillside Drive. The local fire department ordered all of the carnival attendees to evacuate the grounds and had them gather in a nearby clubhouse until the storm passed.

No one was injured by this severe storm, but some houses suffered damages. WHEC.com reports a resident of Hilton kept his spirits up and was able to see the bright side of the situation:

“Once the storm passed, (Chris Case set) his boat up for some flooded front yard fishing at home… ‘I hope they don’t raise my taxes for waterfront property now.’”

Many potentially disastrous storms can hit at any moment without warning, like tornadoes. It is critical that families prepare an emergency disaster kit before they wish they would have made one. Click here to see how you can make an emergency disaster kit for your family.
